Cha-Ching Money Smart Kids is a financial literacy program designed to equip 7 to 12-year-old's with the knowledge, tools, and practice they need to make informed financial decisions to reach their own personal goals and dreams.
Developed by Prudence Foundation with Cartoon Network Asia and children’s education expert, Dr. Alice Wilder, the storylines have been written around the four key concepts of money: Earn, Save, Spend and Donate. Children mostly only see spend, but it also needs to be understood that Earn, Save, Spend, Donate is a cycle of money and they are choices that have to be made every day, throughout life.
We believe that financial literacy is a critical life skill that needs to be instilled at a young age and taught in a structured manner. As a result, the Prudence Foundation partnered with JA Asia Pacific to develop the Cha-Ching Curriculum in order to meet this societal need to build a stronger foundation for local as well as global economies in the future. The collaboration aims to provide the essential components for in-school curriculums to support schools and teachers instil the four key money management concepts of Earn, Save, Spend and Donate in students' daily life.
The Cha-Ching Curriculum brings the best in class financial literacy education into schools to ensure students are equipped with the necessary skills to make responsible financial decisions throughout each stage of their lives. Teachers are trained to deliver the curriculum and teach students the key concepts of Earn, Save, Spend and Donate.
As part of our continuous efforts to elevate teachers’ confidence to deliver high-quality Curriculum, as well as to inspire excellence and recognise achievement of teachers and educators, the Cha-Ching Financial Accreditation – CCFA, is developed to enable the creation of an ecosystem that enables professional development, inspire excellence as well as recognise achievement of teachers and educators.
Through extensive research, the CCFA is developed based on two key well-recognised educational frameworks:
-
OECD Core Competencies Framework on Financial Literacy for Youth; the key money concepts of EARN, SAVE, SPEND
and DONATE are mapped against this framework, and
-
ASEAN Teachers Competency Framework, which provides aspirations in elevating the learning experience of
students, as
well as inspiring teachers and educators in advocating financial literacy and education.
CCFA certified teachers, master trainers, and other stakeholders in the CCFA ecosystem will have the
opportunities
to be further recognised and learn from other like-minded professionals in the regional CCFA conference.
We invite you to be part of the CCFA community, to help elevate financial literacy capacity, recognise the
achievements of teachers, and inspire excellence across the education ecosystem.
